STEAM Children’s Book Prize Winner Announcement

UCLan Publishing and The BIS are proud to announce the winners of the STEAM Children’s Book Prize 2020!

Best Information Book: Science You Can Eat by Stefan Gates (DK)
Best Early Years Book: Astro Girl by Ken Wilson-Max (Otter-Barry Books)
Best Middle-Grade Book: Lightning Mary by Anthea Simmons (Andersen Press)
Best YA Book: Nowhere on Earth by Nick Lake (Hodder)
Overall Winner: Science You Can Eat by Stefan Gates (DK)

The aim of the prize is to highlight the importance of STEAM subjects (science, technology, engineering, arts, maths) and praise the publishing industry and authors for championing them. By providing children with engaging, fun and exciting literature, they’ll hopefully be inspired to take an interest in STEAM further into their education.

We had planned to announce the winners at a ceremony at the Lancashire Science Festival, with all shortlisted authors being invited to host activities and events as part of the festival programme. Due to current circumstances the winner were announced via twitter on 27th of June by TV presenter Dallas Campbell.

Submissions for the 2021 prize will be open in September 2020.
